This home, built with non-conventional methods, thinking of zero carbon emissions, using compressed earth blocks (CEB), emerges from a deep dialogue between place, climate, and the shared environmental commitment of both, the architect and client. Located in a mountainous region with a cool climate and constant winds, the project was conceived through a careful process of selecting local materials—responding responsibly to both the natural and cultural environment.
Using CEB—crafted from the very soil of the site—made it possible to achieve an architecture that is thermally efficient, low-impact, and deeply rooted in the land. The house gently rises on piers and stilts, creating the feeling of floating above the mountain while allowing the terrain to flow naturally beneath it with minimal alteration.
Every design decision was guided by the desire to minimize environmental impact—from the home orientation that maximizes passive sunlight, to the use of natural finishes and cross-ventilation systems that reduce the need for mechanical energy.
The result is a home that does not impose itself on the landscape but enhances it—a house that breathes with the mountain, made from the very earth that sustains it.
